Don't Risk Exposing Yourself to Disloyal
Employees, Greedy Lawyers,
Power Hungry Bureaucrats and Your Own
Costly Mistakes…
Dear Friend,
Have you ever fantasized about going to work without having to manage any people? We all have! I'm sure you would agree that managing people is one of the toughest jobs there is. A job made ever more complex because of two factors: 1) today's confusing employment laws and 2) the difficulty in attracting and retaining great employees.
Unfortunately, most companies don't get wake up to getting serious about their HR efforts until after getting clobbered on the head with a destructive employee claim or after losing some of their best employees and customers to the competition.
Is that what your company is waiting for? How much did your last bad hire cost? How much did it cost to lose a good employee? What price do you pay suffering from endless employee dramas? Have you been hit with one of these crazy employee claims? How much is lost productivity costing you? Truth is, there is no longer a reason to wait!
HR That Works is a powerful program for your company. Unless you are willing to risk considerable time, money and aggravation managing poor employee performance or defending against the filing of unnecessary claims, there is no escaping the need for this unique program. Your small investment in purchasing and implementing the HR That Works program is offset many times by the risk exposures it helps eliminate and the increased productivity it helps generate. In the end this program is all about growing the bottom line.
If you value your sanity and your pocketbook, you are encouraged to read on!
Why HR That Works is a Unique Program . .
There is a ton of legal compliance and HR literature out in the marketplace. There may even be some on your shelves. It's a billion-dollar industry and there's plenty of competition. But none of it compares with the HR That Works program!
First of all, we don't try to be everything to everybody. We focus only on the needs of companies with 15 to 500 employees. Companies with growing HR needs. It is easy to use, focuses only on critical risk management exposures and opportunities, and gives you strategies and tools you can apply inexpensively and immediately. The point of the HR That Works program is to empower your workplace -- not stifle it. It is designed to help your company to increase productivity without the interruption of destructive employee dramas.
A Million Dollar Reward for Poor Performance? . . .
In 1997, I quit my litigation practice. The last time I defended a company in a wrongful termination trial the plaintiff, who was fired for poor performance after only three months of employment, wanted $1,000,000 just to settle the case! Despite exposing a series of blatant lies, the jury awarded him all of $20,000 - and that was after his attorney spent more than two years and $100,000 preparing the case for trial. He received the $20,000 because the company used a poorly drafted letter of intent. To everyone's surprise, the juror's invoked a 30-day warning notice in the document which was never even signed by the plaintiff! Despite the fact my client “won” that case, it still had to pay me over $80,000 in legal fees to try the case, and then it went on appeal where my client “won” again after paying an additional $20,000 to the lawyers and $20,000 to satisfy the final judgment. Had my client hired one of those mega-law firms with antique Chinese vases in their lobby and $120,000 first-year associates, chances are their legal fees would have been two or three times that amount. What few employees and managers understand is this: my client had to raise an additional $400,000 in net revenue to match the $120,000 outlay caused by the filing of the lawsuit. Now that hurts!! Not only are these lawsuits expensive, the costs associated with defending against them are immediate. There is no amortizing the expenditure. If you're like most employers and don't have insurance coverage, you're picking up the entire defense. If the case goes to trial, and you end up losing (as 67% of employers do), then odds are you're looking at a verdict that nationwide averages more than $250,000, with 15% having punitive damages claims of over $1,000,000. Just think how much new revenue you'll have to generate to absorb those figures! The reason I point out this sad reality is not to scare you but rather to educate you.

"I want to take a minute to let you know how helpful HR That Works has been. I recently returned from a 3-week vacation and when I returned, I had about 5 major legal issues to deal with and I REALLY needed some advice. I called the hotline and I could not believe how helpful Don Phin was. He went over and above what I would expect. I have called him in the past for some quick advice and he has ALWAYS been there for me. He not only listens to me and guides me in how to handle sticky HR situations, but explains things in such a straight forward way that I can understand. I actually don't know what I would have done without him being willing to talk to me. I remember calling him last year and he answered his phone at the airport and even when he was at Disney World on vacation, he stopped and helped.
So, Thank You for the services your company provides its clients. I greatly appreciate it."

Having no formal HR training, I am able to make sure our company is in compliance with all legal requirements, without having to pay for legal advice. I have also implemented many of their suggestions to keep our company from being open to lawsuits.
